About Me

Hello!
I am glad to greet you!

Health and happiness are extremely important factors. And while health industry is rather developed, happiness is more or less neglected. Kids and adults are left to come by it by their own means. Some get it naturally, and it's great! Others are not happy effortlessly. But I strongly believe that happiness can be practiced and mastered, and it is helpful to talk about it.

I like hearing from you. I believe we can all learn from one another. Comments, advice and constructive criticism are welcome - that is how we learn and become better.

Why This Blog?

I believe living happily is the meaning of life. In the big picture, everything we do steams down to achieving happiness and avoiding suffering.
My goal is to provide as many people as I can with better understanding of the state of happiness and tools to achieve this state of mind regardless of circumstances.

What Qualifies Me To Write About Happiness?

Happiness is a feeling, an emotion, a state of being. It cannot be objectively measured, nor can it be objectively described. It's a highly inclusive and unspecialized word. Like "a house", or "mom", or "love". When you say them, everyone imagines something different in their mind's eye, depending on their personal experiences. So I do not believe anyone can claim that they have the right approach to happiness, the right answer.

I have a nursing degree and have worked with many patients in different clinical settings. I have a management degree and have worked with many people under various degrees of stress. I lived in different countries and different communities, with different culture and approach to what constitutes happiness. I am a mom of two children who I desperately want to be happy.

I believe everyone wants to be happy, even if we are not completely certain what it is. So we do things that we think will make us happy, much of which is "marketed" to us by the society. I am convinced that a lot of the lore and "data" that we know about happiness in not correct. So we are set on the wrong path to happiness from childhood, seeking it in wrong directions, wasting our lives.

I find that my understanding of happiness is different from other people's. I write to express my own understanding of what happiness is not and what it is, and I hope that it will help some understand it better, too. Because once we understand happiness better, we will be able to find, or rather feel it better.

There is no "one size fits all" solution. So we have to sift through a lot to find the best fit for us - for our beliefs (the nurture part) and our personality (the nature part). I hope my blog helps some of you!

My Wish List

The Internet reaches everywhere, so I put my wish list here and invite the like-minded people to get in touch - to help, to advise, or just to exchange ideas.

My wish list is:

- to publish a book that will help understand what happiness is and what it is not. I plan to discuss the conventional approach to happiness and some of its fallacies, my vision on happiness, and practical advise on how to practice the change of attitude that leads to happiness;

- to write articles for any printed or digital media;

- to find an agent who will help me navigate the publishing industry;

- to find a mentor who will guide me to a wiser, better, happier me;
